Help the CTF

with dingwall having resigned, it's time we spotted more waste. do so by gleaning the expense report site. for more details check out the CTF's call to help.

my personal contribution to this cause was made a couple of days ago.

my finding, which I emailed to david maclean:

David, I did some digging while at work last night and I came up with this one, which irked me.

Stephane Dion, Minister of the Environment.

"Atlantic tour". Feb 18-19, 2005.

link

Flight to Halifax and back (I can only assume from Ottawa): $4218.86.

I did a search of the **most expensive** short-notice return flight from Ottawa to Halifax on Air Monopoly, and the price I came up with was, after taxes, $1882.23.

There's something seriously wrong there.

First off, he doesn't **have** to fly executive class. That's just extravagant, especially with my tax dollars. I just did a quick search on Tango, and I came up with, get this:

$298.63.

Ludicrous.

I was looking around and found a few examples like this, but this was the most obscene.

A second poking around found Ujjal Dosanjh going to India and Sri Lanka after the tsunami. Taking along a gaggle of assistants, one of the trips cost us (just for Ujjal) $6198.46 for airfare, and add-ons brought it up to over $7500. "Ministerial travel" is what this one is called.

link

He also took along Robert Fry, at a cost of over $8000

link

and Ken Polk, for over $12000

link

They then repeated the trip, but this time to **China** and India.

Ujjal, over $12000

link

Robert Fry, over $7000

link

Joseph Li, over $6500

link

Jonathan Moser, $5000

link

Ken Polk, nearly $6500

link

and Ramesh Singal, over $10500

link

Total this up and for 2 trips for these people we paid about $75000.

This is disgusting.

a bigger scam than adscam

strong world and blue blogging soapbox are working together tirelessly to dig, dig, dig and bring us information about a scandal that should set this country on its ear. just like adscam did ... errrrr, just like the gun registry waste ... errrrr, just like the billion-dollar boondoggle ... errrrr, ummmmmm, ... well, it should. check those blogs regularly for updates. and tell your friends. and enemies.

because the canadian public deserves to know.

what if cbc employees were locked out and nobody cared--including the employees?

i've been amusing myself by reading about the cbc and how its leftist employees all believe that we care about the communist broadcasting corporation. about how we can't be canada without it. about how responsible journalism will have no voice in our country without them. (this last one particularly made me just about choke. one of the comments i read in opposition to this, with which i wholeheartedly agree, is that without their sports coverage, i would never watch cbc. and other networks can do good sports coverage. ergo, cbc (and certainly not cbc "news") is not needed in my life.)

then i go to some of their blogs. whine this. cbc = canada that. moonbat the other. blah blah blah.

some of the bloggers are keeping photo journals of their lockout. and you know what? they don't look put-upon. they don't look unhappy. and they certainly don't look underfed. take a look for yourselves, at this link. is it my imagination, or are the people in just about every picture stuffing their faces or just plain smiling?

doesn't look like a pissed off bunch to me.

unbelievable!

i don't get people sometimes.

this morning i've gotten a few messages urging me not to buy gas today, september 1. this is to protest the price gouging going on by the oil companies. (never mind that i'm not totally sure they're gouging, but let's just say for a moment they are.)

why are people all of a sudden mobilized to action for a few bucks, when right in front of their noses, for the last 13 years, theft of a much larger proportion has been going on?

to wit: hrdc, gun registry, adscam, helicopter contract cancellation.

and this is just the beginning!

you want to mobilize people, don't cost them thousands! just cost them pennies!

as joel johannesen would say, vote liberal! (dripping with sarcasm)
