plan b

we're sitting here and cnn (aka cbc south) is on.

they're talking briefly about a pill called plan b. essentially it's the morning after pill.

know what they called it? "emergency contraceptive pill".

what should they have called it? "emergency i was really stupid and had unprotected sex but now someone else has to pay for it abortion-on-demand pill".

grow some grapefruits now, paul

new orleans needs help now. not tomorrow, and not next week.

i know that if stephen harper were prime minister, a formal announcement would be being made today (or possibly yesterday) showing our support for our friends and neighbours, and an immediate pledge for the gun registry to be scrapped and all future money earmarked for it to go to relief efforts along the gulf coast.

but that's just dreaming, isn't it?

last week i was driving around southern manitoba, as i am wont to do from time to time, and i heard this gem from pierre pettigrew on the radio: "this minority parliament was filled with partisan politics."

well duh! isn't that the idea? i mean, isn't it the point, that since canadians are disaffected (i'd actually say p---ed off, but apparently those east of the lakehead, by and large, aren't) by your government that they voted for other parties. the horror! now the political landscape is festooned with other than liberal (or, according to pmpm, "canadian") ideals. opposing views are being heard! oh no! if i were the lying, thieving, conniving, arrogant jerks, i'd be scared, too. there's a groundswell of anger in this country, and it won't be too long before the dictatorship is overthrown and a real democracy emerges. it might not be in this next election (sadly), but it's coming. canadians can't be mindless sheep for that long.

can they?

laugh of the day for yesterday: a leftie moonbat colleague of mine is retiring soon, and he's talking about moving to salmon arm, bc. he said the place is perfect, but for one thing: "the place is full of right-wing nazi lovers." um, buddy, uh, ....

ah, never mind. it's not worth the breath it would take to correct this guy.

i still don't much care about this, but..

it's all the talk on the news and the talk shows.

what is the governor-general-designate's loyalty to canada? where does she stand on québec separation?

well, first off, i bet that if she were a wasp from calgary who had been seen toasting freedom (for south korea, cuba, and perhaps western canada) (look, i'm just drawing the closest analogy to what apparently happened that i can) then would there be a fuss? you bet. he'd be labelled a traitor, a white supremacist, and the liberal elite "thinkers" in eastern canada would immediately demand he be replaced.

so just because she's a liberal flunky, what's different?

but that's not what i meant to talk about.

many people are saying that she should be replaced before she even gets into office. that's fine. but i hear not one person - not one person suggesting an alternative.

so to the masses (conservative and liberal alike!), i say this: suggest away.

i suggest don cherry.

seriously.

paul said it, so it must be true

i don't know either way about the incoming g-g, and frankly i think it's a post that's outdated and useless.

but look at what scott reid had to say in a national post article about our illustrious prime minister, who was talking about the incoming g-g:

"when the prime minister says madame jean and her husband are committed canadians, you can rest assured they are committed canadians."

of course. and when paul says that he'll eliminate the democratic deficit and get rid of western canadian alienation, we believe him, too.

right?

gas prices

driving home from work today, i saw my very first ever gas price over 1 dollar per litre.

the posted price was 103.9. with the silly 3.5 cents off per, it still works out to over a dollar.

we're charged tax on that. both federal and provincial. but on top of (at least some of) that, there's gst. a tax on a tax.

come on, canada. wake up. you're being overtaxed and yet you choose to do nothing about it.

you know, revolting is not just how we describe tongue sandwich...

the rant

hey, i'm not a lawyer, or a shipping heir....
i don't live in a home on sussex drive or eat caviar, or think tax dollars are mine to spend as i wish....
and i don't want to get to know paul, or annie, or carolyn from ottawa,
although i'm certain they think they're really really nice.

i have a dictator, not a prime minister.
i speak english and french, not whatever it was jean did.
and i pronounce it 'democratic deficit', not 'canadian values'.

i can proudly say i didn't vote for those envelope-passing thieves in office.
i believe in the will of the people, not the tyrrany of the minority special-interest groups,
individual thought, not groupthink,
and that the stay-at-home parent is a truly noble and vital contributor to our society.
a conservative is not a scary person, and they can talk about private delivery of public health care withouth shrieking,
and it is pronounced 'knee-jerk reaction', not 'gun control', 'knee-jerk reaction'!!!!

canada is an elected dictatorship,
the first nation of overtaxation!
and the best banana republic in the world.

my name is dave!!
and i am conservative!!!
